Willow Dene School Ofsted Report - December 2019

We are delighted to finally receive our Ofsted Report and grading  and to be able to share the inspection report following our inspection on 5th and 6th December 2019.

We thought it would be useful to give you some information about the current Oftsed system and to help give context to the grading in the report. All schools graded 'good' at their previous inspection are now inspected as a Section 8 short inspection. This is the kind of inspection that Willow Dene has just had because we were graded 'good' at our last inspection in 2012. Under a Section 8, Schools cannot have their grading changed from 'good' without having a further Section5 long inspection. If the school is causing concern and it might be less than good this happens immediately. If, however, there is enough evidence to suggest that a school could be 'outstanding' if it were to receive a Section 5 Oftsed inspection now, then this is mentioned in their final report and grading.

When this happens, this means that the school's next inspection will be a Section 5 long inspection where the grading of the school could be changed from 'good' to 'outstanding'. Where this is the case, instead of having to wait for a further four years before the next inspection, the school will have its next inspection much sooner (between 12 and 24 months).

Our Ofsted inspectors found that Willow Dene remains a 'good' school and that there is sufficient evidence that the school could be graded 'outstanding' if it were to receive a Section 5 inspection now.

This is the best possible news that we could receive and the best grading we could achieve under the current system.  This means that we will be welcoming Ofsted back in 12 to 24 months for a Section 5 Ofsted Inspection.

In the meantime, we will be busy looking closely at the two areas for development identified in the report and putting in place actions to address these.

We hope you enjoy reading the report. We are very proud of it and would like to sincerely thank everyone for all their support, belief and positivity.
